Arroyo's getting battered in spring training (no pun intended). Terrible's not really the right word to describe his pitching performances so far. After his third straight horrendous outing, Arroyo reflected, "I guess I was missing the location."
If Washington state were the location, Arroyo's in fucking Iraq.

I think it was either last spring training or the one prior that Beckett had a 10-something ERA.
Look at Dontrelle Willis in the WBC. A lot of guys are just slow starters.
Arroyo's not as good as those guys, but the same principle applies. Pitchers in general are notoriously slow starters. That "midseason form" thing...they call it that for a reason. Guys generally aren't going to be in midseason form in the preseason.
