Manny, don't let the door hit you on the way out...

Honestly, can we just dump this chump? Of course I'm referring to Manny Ramirez. Cleveland was happy to get rid of the clubhouse cancer and I'm counting the days until Manny's off the squad. Despite his undeniable hitting prowress, his lackadaisical play and horrendous defense is just intolerable. On top of that, his clubhouse antics have pissed off everyone. At this point, his talent is not worth his unpredictable behavior. I put him in the same boat as Pedro Martinez - a world-class headache.

Can anyone feel sorry for a guy making $20mn per year who jogs down the first base line in the 10th inning of a tight game? Or, how about his yearly MIA stunts when the team needs him? He's consistently let the team down and it's time to eat some of his salary to dump his unreliable ass. Any outfield acquisition will be an immediate defensive upgrade.

Time to cut our losses and dump this piece of shit. Please, someone take him...

One of the first goals of the current ownership (before they even moved into their cubicles) was to dump Manny. Every year under their regime, they've either tried to trade him or put him on waivers.

Their urgency is even greater now with Manny having 10/5 rights at the end of the season.

I think that's one of the reasons he was held out of the last two games. Don't buy that "he needs to clear his head" bullshizzle that Tito is forcefeeding to us. He's being held out to protect against injury in the event of a trade.

Here's how I feel about Manny. The guy is a legitimate top 3 hitter in baseball. He makes everybody in the lineup better. Not only that, but his presence forces teams to pitch to Ortiz. With Manny out, the Twins walked Ortiz four times with Olerud hitting behind him. So not only would a trade take away one of the best offensive forces in the game from the team, but it would allow teams to give Ortiz "the Barry Bonds" treatment and force guys like Olerud to come up with big hits.

Sox fans have to ask themselves, are we a better team without Manny? Is it a great idea to trade one of the top hitters in the game when we're in first place by 2.5 games? To me, only bad things can happen if we trade him now.

What would I do? Wait till after the season to trade Manny. I know his 10/5 rights kick in, but I'm willing to deal with that without sacrificing the success of the 2005 club...

Bottom line is this - ain't no way Theo would trade Manny directly with the Mets for Mike Cameron, prospect Lastings Milledge, and $15mn in cash -- the Sox still owe Manny $64mn.

I can hear Theo on the phone with the Mets' top brass, "So, lemme get this straight... We give you one of the top hitters in baseball. You give us a guy who might hit 30 HRs in a season with a lifetime .249 BA [Cameron], and one of your prospects [Millege], plus we'll eat nearly $50mn of Manny's contract?

Hmmm. Let me think about that one for a minute... Um, fuck off."

Nor would Theo entertain the proposed 3-team megadeal - trading Manny, prospects Hanley Ramirez, and Jon Lester to get Mike Cameron and Aubrey Huff in return. Given the market, it was obviously the best move to hang on to Manny...

Tampa Bay's GM is on crack- demanding our top prospects for guys like Huff and Baez.

That's one of the reasons they're in last place every year. What opposing GM is going to give into his ludicrith demands?
